Becoming a member of the Riverside Board of Trustees is a great way to have a positive impact on our community. The Riverside Community Caucus is here to encourage, help, and support any resident who would like to run for the Riverside village Board of Trustees.
In the Spring of even numbered years, the Riverside Community Caucus forms a Recruiting Committee. The Recruiting Committee is comprised of Caucus members who work closely with the entire community to find and nominate potential candidates.
When someone is nominated as a potential candidate the Recruiting Committee will reach out to learn more about them, encourage their interest, and offer our help. Sometimes people are flattered but the timing just isn't right. However for those who would like to pursue a candidacy with a Riverside Community Caucus endorsement, the Recruiting Committee is here to help.
Step One - Candidate Introduction
All candidates are asked to send a completed "Prospective Candidate Introduction" along with their contact information and resume to Riversidecommunitycaucus@gmail.com.
Once the Recruiting Committee has received your Candidate Introduction and resume, they will schedule a time to meet with you. This is an opportunity for everyone to meet, review the information you provided, and answer any questions you might have about what is involved in running for and serving on our village board.
In the fall of even numbered years, the Riverside Community Caucus will host a moderated public forum for candidates to engage with the Riverside community. The entire village, regardless of membership, as well as all candidates who participated in the Caucus process, are welcome to attend.
There are so many talented, skilled, and wonderful people in Riverside but there are typically only three or four open seats on the village board per election. Therefore, after the forum the RCC membership will vote on which candidates to endorse. Even if a candidate is not endorsed by the RCC, it is not a negative reflection on their character or integrity. We deeply appreciate all members of our community who seek ways to serve our beautiful community.
